Thankful Thursday–April 30, 2015

Denali National Park in autumn, Alaska, USA, North AmericaToday I am thankful for thankfulness. I know, sounds redundant, but it’s not.

I was taught, growing up in ultra-conservativism, that no one was ever grateful for anything they were given. People only appreciated that which they worked for. This is on my list of things my parents and grandparents were in error about.

I can see why some might think that. We all know people who are given things and they don’t appreciate them. But that has nothing to do with the fact that it was given to them, it has to do with the fact that the person receiving it is an ungrateful person.

Over the past few months I have been on the receiving end of a lot good things. People have been generous, they have been helpful, and I have been nothing but grateful.

So, I am thankful that I can be thankful for things I haven’t even worked for.
