Not surprisingly, there is a sequel to Hansel & Gretel: Witchhunters in the works. According to this article Tommy Wirkola will not be directing the film, which could be a good thing. Not that it will make it less graphic, but I didn’t think he did a good job with Renner, and since that’s the only reason I’d watch a film like this…:D Of course, I might not see it at all. I “watched” it on Netflix, which really means I only listened to it. (I hate gore, it will make me vomit, literally.)
In other Renner news, I went and watched Mission Impossible last week. It was a good film, best of the series so far. Aside from the gratuitous use of a woman’s body (I’m at a loss to find even a Disney film that doesn’t use women this way), it was pretty perfect. What can you say bad about a movie where the last person you see on screen is Jeremy Renner? 😀
Loved the banter between my bae (yes, I’ve been hanging out in fandoms too much lately) and Ving Rhimes, loved that Ving Rhimes was in most of the film. I do hope he comes back for the next one. While I was sorry that Paula Patton wasn’t in this one, Rebecca Ferguson’s character of Ilsa Faust was a good replacement.
I love movies where the women are actually just there to kick, um, well, not to be some guy’s love interest. Did you hear that Whedon? That last statement will only make sense if you’ve seen the alternate scene between Mark Ruffalo and Scarlett Johanson in Age of Ultron. If you haven’t, don’t look for it, it will only make you ill. Ugh. Just when I thought I’d made my peace with the man.
Back in reality…
Babycakes is doing really well in school. He is a fast learner this year and I’m truly hoping that by the end of first grade he will be reading. He’s apparently so fast that the teacher spoke with me once about mainstreaming him, but I think he needs to work on his social skills before he does that. He’s a difficult child to place. I think that’s why it took so long to get an actual diagnosis. He does learn quickly but he is in his own little world. He’s socially about, maybe, three?
We played a fun game in family therapy last night. It involves Skittles. I’ll post more detail tomorrow, but, truly, anything that involves Skittle is awesome. 😀
I splurged and took the kids to CFA for dinner last night because it was 105 at 5pm and inside the house it was about 100. It was nice to cool down for a little bit. When we got back into the car, the inside was still super hot, even though the sun had been down for about 30 minutes.
Today is a bit of a weird day. I feel half-way between doing OK and maybe falling back into whatever funk I spent August in.
The freezer can’t keep up with the heat. We’ll probably lose at least all the ice cream.
Well, it’s late and I’m exhausted. But we all had a good time at AWANA.
My computer won’t work anyway so I’m finishing this on my phone. If the computer won’t work I guess that means it’s time to go to bed. 😀
That is all.
