Five Minute Friday: Present

heaven

…we would rather be away from the body and at home (present) with the Lord.
2 Corinthians 5:8b NRSV

I’ll be brief.

I wish I was still struggling with this prompt, but a story was handed to me moments ago, and it’s not one that I wanted.

One of oldest friends and strongest supporters was called Home today.

Of him I can easily say,

The righteous perish,
and no one takes it to heart;
the devout are taken away,
while no one understands.
For the righteous are taken away from calamity,
and they enter into peace…
Isaiah 57:1-2a

The time to weep, and to mourn, spoken of in Ecclesiastes is now. And I do, as do all his friends, his wife, and his little boy.

It doesn’t seem right that he is present there already. I would not wish him back from his healed body and from his worship face to face of our Lord. But he truly is one the world has lost.

Linking up with Five Minute Friday.

I’m so sorry for your loss. May the Comforter come close as you grieve the loss of your friend.

Sorry to hear the news about your friend, Sara. That’s so sad. Praying for you, and for his wife and son to know God’s presence and comfort as you mourn.

  3. I offer the words of this simple song… “In His presence there is fullness of joy. And at His right Hand, pleasures forever more. Oh what fellowship Divine. I am His, and He is mine. In the presence of the Lord, there’s fullness of joy.”
