Day Four: Of Podcasts and Peas and Nothing Else That Begins with P

Started listening to an awesome podcast while I was working on the yard today. It’s called This Week in Microbiology.

It is fantastic. When I walk into Micro in August, maybe I won’t feel like I’m in a foreign language class. It was so interesting that it made forget my fear of pipettes. Seriously, they scare the hell out of me. I think I might be too old to learn how to use them. 😥

Took the kids to Home Depot to buy some veggies and planting pots.

Got some cool edging fences to make a herb garden in the front yard.

Not bad, if I do say so myself.

In the good news department, the city will take away five large items four times per year. That is a calendar year, Jan-Dec, not 12 mos from first pick up. That means I would be able to clear a lot of crap out of the back yard over my next break, in August, and then, after Jan 1, call them for a pick up again. That had been a major concern.

It looks like our vacation will be a cold one, but this is the only week we all have together so we’ll just have to find something warm to do. I wonder if they’re too old for the Children’s Museum. 🙂

Of course, they’re running around at the park right now without jackets and I need two more blankets, so maybe they’ll be fine.
